The official language in Maldives is Dhivehi
but majority of the population speaks English.

The local currency is Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR), but Maldivian resort islands are accepting United States dollar (USD).

The Maldives have a long long Buddhist history and by the mid-12th century Maldivians converted to Islam when Muslim traders introduced Islam.

Mobile Services
Prepaid SIM cards are available at the airport. The SIM cards can be used for local and international calls and for data. WiFi is available in all Tourist Resorts.
Taxes
A Tourism Goods and Service Tax (TGST) of 17% is charged on all goods and services at tourist establishments. A Green Tax of US$ 12.00 per person per day is payable for guests staying at tourist accommodation except guest houses where the Green Tax is US$ 6.00 per person per day.
Tourist Visas
Tourist visas are granted on arrival for all nationalities and no prior approval is required.
